Abby & Jake
In 2023, I spontaneously created a small 10'x6' flower bed in our backyard, not really knowing where it would lead — I just wanted to grow something beautiful for the summer. That modest little garden produced the most stunning blooms, and sharing them with my loved ones quickly became one of my favorite parts of the season.
But the moment I truly understood the joy and meaning my flowers could bring came during a very heavy time. When my husband’s grandfather passed away, the night before his funeral I went out to the garden and cut every bloom I had. I wanted each person there to be able to place a flower into his grave. Watching my flowers become part of such a tender and emotional goodbye — seeing how something grown with love could bring even the smallest bit of comfort on such a grief-filled day — is something I will never forget. It changed me.
Building on all of that, the farm expanded dramatically in 2024, growing to five times its original size. Our little roadside stand, originally called Wentworth Farmstand, was renamed Urban Oak Blooms in the new year. Inspired by the big white oak tree in our backyard just outside the city limits, the new name reflects both our roots and our hope to bring beauty, comfort, and joy to our community through flowers.
As the farm continues to flourish, Jake and I are excited to keep sharing more vibrant, meaningful blooms with everyone who comes to know us. - Abby

Hi, I’m Abby, and my husband Jake and I are the growers behind these beautiful blooms. We have our sweet 1-year-old son, Hudson, who is almost always tagging along with us, plus our two dogs, Jameson and Liberty who are always out in the fields with us, and our cat, Layla — it’s a full, happy little farm crew.
I grew up in a small farming town, so agriculture has always been a part of my life. Being around all different kinds of farming practices since I was young gave me a solid foundation for what we do today. Before flowers, I actually poured most of my creativity into art — I ran a painting business where I created abstract acrylic pieces, and people often sought out my work. I even hosted workshops to teach others, which was one of the most fulfilling parts of that chapter of my life. That artistic side of me is still very much alive; now I get to express it through floral arranging, infusing each bouquet with the same emotion and energy that once lived on my canvases.
Jake brings his own strengths to our partnership. He grew up helping his parents with all kinds of projects, so he’s incredibly handy and resourceful. Honestly, he can fix or figure out just about anything. All of the groundbreaking work on our farm — literally — has been done by him, and he takes such great care of our land.
Together, we blend our skills, passions, and hard work to keep growing and building our dreams for the farm. Every bloom we share is a little piece of that journey.
